JPAC
JPAC, or the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, was a US military organization responsible for locating, recovering, and identifying the remains of service members who were prisoners of war (POWs) or missing in action (MIA), particularly from past conflicts like World War II and Korea. Its goal was to provide closure for families and ensure respect for fallen soldiers by accurately identifying remains. In 2015, JPAC was reorganized into the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), continuing this vital mission with enhanced resources and capabilities.
