Joséphine Bonaparte, born Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie in 1763, was the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte and Empress of the French. Originally from Martinique, she became a prominent social figure in France and played a key role in Napoleon’s rise to power. Though their marriage was often complicated, she was influential in court and known for her elegance and charm. As Empress from 1804 to 1814, she helped shape French society and culture. After Napoleon’s fall, she lived in exile and remained an important historical figure symbolizing the era of the Napoleonic Empire.
