Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
The Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) was a secure, computerized database used by U.S. government agencies to manage security clearance information for personnel. It streamlined the process of vetting individuals for access to classified information by storing background checks, clearance levels, and eligibility status. JPAS helped ensure that only authorized individuals accessed sensitive materials, improving security and efficiency. However, it was replaced by the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) in 2017 to enhance functionality and data management.
