Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an international agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and major world powers (the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Russia, and China) to limit Iran’s nuclear activities. In exchange for sanctions relief, Iran agreed to reduce its uranium stockpile, limit enrichment activities, and accept increased inspections, ensuring its nuclear program is peaceful and not aimed at developing nuclear weapons. The JCPOA aims to prevent nuclear proliferation, promote regional stability, and foster diplomatic solutions to concerns over Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
