Joint Aviation Authorities
The Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) was a cooperative organization comprising European regulatory agencies that set safety and certification standards for civil aviation in Europe. Its goal was to ensure consistent safety, licensing, and maintenance procedures across member countries. While it developed important regulations, it was not a regulatory body itself; rather, it facilitated collaboration among national authorities. The JAA's work helped unify aviation standards in Europe until its functions evolved into the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which now oversees aircraft safety and certification across the region.
