John Profumo

John Profumo was a British politician who served as Secretary of State for War in the 1960s. His career ended abruptly in 1963 when he became involved in a scandal involving a relationship with Christine Keeler, a young woman also linked to a Soviet naval attaché. The affair raised concerns about national security during the Cold War and damaged his reputation. Profumo resigned from his position, and the scandal led to increased scrutiny of government misconduct. Despite the controversy, he later exemplified remorse and integrity, living a quiet life until his death in 2006.
