John Pope

John Pope (1822–1892) was a prominent U.S. military officer during the 19th century. He played key roles in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War, mostly as a Union general. Known for his strategic abilities, Pope commanded Union troops at important battles such as the Second Battle of Bull Run. Despite initial successes, he faced setbacks and was later criticized for disagreements with other Union leaders.
