John Penruddock
John Penruddock was a 17th-century English Cavalier involved in efforts to restore Royalist power after the English Civil War. He led a small, local uprising in 1655 against the Commonwealth government, reflecting Royalist dissent. The rebellion was quickly suppressed, and Penruddock was captured and executed for treason. His actions symbolize the ongoing resistance of Royalists who opposed Oliver Cromwell’s rule and sought the monarchy’s return.
