John Jay Report

The John Jay Report is a comprehensive study released in 2004 that examines the sexual abuse of minors by Catholic priests in the United States from 1950 to 2002. Conducted by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, it analyzed case data, church responses, and trends over time. The report revealed the scope of abuse, identified factors contributing to it, and highlighted the church’s efforts to address and prevent such misconduct. Its goal was to provide transparency, inform policy improvements, and foster accountability within the Catholic Church regarding these serious issues.
