John Holland (Psychologist)

John Holland was an American psychologist best known for developing the Holland Codes, a theory of career and vocational choice. He proposed that people and work environments can be categorized into six personality types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (RIASEC). Holland believed that job satisfaction and success depend on how well a person’s interests align with their work environment. His ideas have influenced career counseling and development, helping individuals find careers that match their personalities and preferences, ultimately leading to more fulfilling professional lives.
