John D. Muir
John Muir (1838-1914) was a Scottish-American naturalist, author, and environmental advocate, often referred to as the "Father of the National Parks." His deep appreciation for nature led him to explore and champion the preservation of wilderness areas in the United States, particularly in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Muir co-founded the Sierra Club, which is instrumental in conservation efforts today. His writings and activism played a crucial role in establishing national parks, influencing the national conservation movement, and promoting a greater public awareness of the importance of protecting natural landscapes and ecosystems.
