John Ball
John Ball was a significant figure in 14th-century England, known for his role in the Peasants' Revolt of 1381. He was a radical priest who advocated for social reform and criticized the inequalities of feudal society. Ball famously posed the question, "When Adam delved and Eve span, who was then the gentleman?" which highlighted the need for a more equitable system. His ideas inspired many peasants to rise against oppressive landlords and the ruling class. Although the revolt was ultimately suppressed, Ball's vision and actions became symbols of the struggle for social justice.
