John A. (John A. McDonald)
John A. Macdonald was Canada's first Prime Minister and a key figure in shaping the country's early development. Serving from 1867 to 1873 and again from 1878 to 1891, he helped unite the provinces into a single nation and oversaw the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which linked Nova Scotia to British Columbia. Macdonald was a leader of the Conservative Party and played a significant role in establishing Canadian sovereignty and government institutions. Despite his contributions, his legacy is complex due to policies impacting Indigenous peoples. He remains a foundational figure in Canada's history.
