Joachim von Watt (Waldseemüller)
Joachim von Watt, also associated with the name Waldseemüller, was a German scholar and cartographer from the early 16th century. He is best known for his work on maps and geographic writings during the Age of Discovery. His most notable contribution is the 1507 world map created with Martin Waldseemüller, which for the first time used the name "America" to label the new continents, honoring explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Watt's work helped expand European understanding of the world and marked a significant milestone in the development of modern cartography.
