
Jo van Gogh-Bonger
Jo van Gogh-Bonger was the wife of the Dutch painter Theo van Gogh and the sister-in-law of the famous artist Vincent van Gogh. After Theo’s death in 1891, Jo dedicated herself to promoting Vincent’s work, organizing exhibitions and publishing his letters. Her efforts significantly enhanced Vincent’s posthumous reputation, helping his art gain international recognition. She also managed her own life and family while championing her brother-in-law’s legacy, becoming an important figure in art history for her role in bringing Vincent’s paintings to a wider audience.
