JIEDDO (Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization)
JIEDDO, or the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, was a U.S. Department of Defense agency established to combat the threat of roadside bombs and explosive devices used against military forces, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its mission was to develop technology, tactics, and intelligence to detect, disarm, and prevent IED attacks, ultimately reducing casualties. JIEDDO coordinated efforts across military branches and government agencies to improve counter-IED capabilities, enhance vehicle and personnel protection, and disrupt insurgent networks responsible for manufacturing and deploying these bombs. It played a critical role in increasing safety for troops in conflict zones.
