Jiangshi

A Jiangshi, often called a "hopping vampire" or "hopping zombie," is a creature from Chinese folklore. It is depicted as a reanimated corpse that moves by hopping due to stiff limbs caused by rigor mortis. Unlike Western zombies driven by decay or disease, Jiangshi are believed to be the spirits of the dead that have not found peace, often animated by their unresolved issues or improper burial. They are known for their distinctive appearance, including pale skin, long nails, and a talisman on their forehead. In stories, Jiangshi typically prey on the living to absorb their life force or Qi.
