Jewish Zealots

Jewish Zealots were a group in ancient Judea who passionately opposed Roman rule and sought to restore Jewish independence through active resistance, including violence and rebellion. During the first century CE, their efforts led to the Jewish-Roman Wars, notably the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. They believed their religious and national identity justified their militant actions, which aimed to overthrow Roman authority and reestablish an independent Jewish state. Their movement reflected intense religious and political convictions, and their resistance significantly impacted Jewish history and the ongoing relationship with Roman and later Christian authorities.
