Jewish customs
Jewish customs are rituals, traditions, and practices rooted in religious teachings and history. They include observing the Sabbath (a day of rest from Friday evening to Saturday evening), celebrating holidays like Passover (commemorating liberation from Egypt) and Hanukkah (re-dedication of the Temple). Dietary laws called kashrut specify permissible foods. Life-cycle events such as circumcision (brit milah), bar/bat mitzvahs, and weddings are significant rites. Prayer, often three times daily, connects individuals to God. Many customs emphasize community, charity, and honoring family heritage, blending spiritual beliefs with daily life to uphold Jewish identity and values.
