Jewish Brigade

The Jewish Brigade was a military unit formed during World War II, comprising Jewish soldiers from the British Mandate of Palestine. Established in 1944, it aimed to support the Allied war effort against the Axis powers and prepare for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. The brigade fought in Europe, notably in Italy, and also helped with post-war rescue operations. It served both as a military unit and a symbol of Jewish national aspirations, playing a significant role in the lead-up to the founding of Israel in 1948.
