Jesse Lazear (Pathologist)
Jesse Lazear was an American pathologist and an important figure in early 20th-century medicine, best known for his work on yellow fever. He conducted critical experiments in Cuba, where he studied how the disease was transmitted by mosquitoes. Sadly, Lazear contracted yellow fever himself and died in 1900, but his research helped establish mosquito control as a vital strategy in preventing the disease. His contributions significantly advanced medical understanding of infectious diseases and laid groundwork for public health measures that save lives to this day.
