Jesse James (outlaw)
Jesse James was a famous American outlaw and bank and train robber in the late 19th century. Born in 1847 in Missouri, he gained notoriety as a member of the James-Younger Gang, which conducted daring raids across the American Midwest. His actions were driven by grievances against the post-Civil War government and economic hardship. Despite being considered a criminal, some saw him as a folk hero or symbol of resistance. Jesse James was eventually killed in 1882 by a fellow gang member. His life remains a notable part of American Old West history and popular culture.
