Jennerian Vaccination

Jennerian vaccination refers to the method developed by Edward Jenner in the late 18th century to prevent smallpox. He observed that milkmaids who had exposed themselves to cowpox, a less dangerous disease, did not catch smallpox. Jenner used material from cowpox sores to infect a person, which then protected them from smallpox infection. This process, called vaccination, trains the immune system to recognize and fight the virus without causing the disease. Jennerian vaccination was a groundbreaking step in immunology, leading to the development of modern vaccines and drastically reducing smallpox worldwide.
