Jean-Pierre Mégnin
Jean-Pierre Mégnin was a French veterinarian and researcher in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is best known for studying the relationship between fleas and the bubonic plague. Mégnin proposed that fleas acted as carriers, transmitting the bacteria responsible for the disease from rats to humans. His work contributed to understanding how infectious diseases spread through vectors. While some of his ideas have evolved with modern science, his research was important in developing the concept of vector-borne diseases and our knowledge of disease transmission in epidemiology.
