JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munitions)
JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munitions) are guidance kits added to standard bombs to make them more precise. They consist of GPS, inertial navigation, and steering components that turn a regular unguided bomb into a smart weapon. Once released from an aircraft, the JDAM uses satellite signals to navigate accurately to its target, even in poor visibility or after initial release. This allows military aircraft to hit specific targets with high precision, reducing collateral damage and increasing mission success. JDAMs are widely used due to their cost-effectiveness, reliability, and ability to adapt existing munitions for advanced targeting.
