Jaw Dislocation
A jaw dislocation occurs when the lower jawbone (mandible) is displaced from the socket of the skull ( temporomandibular joint), often due to trauma, excessive mouth opening, or jaw injury. This condition causes the mouth to lock open or close improperly, leading to pain, difficulty moving the jaw, and difficulty speaking or eating. It typically requires medical intervention to reposition the jaw correctly. Treatment may involve manual manipulation, pain relief, and sometimes supportive devices or surgery if necessary. Prompt care helps prevent further injury or complications.
