Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (1718-1783) was a prominent Sikh leader and military commander during the 18th century in India. He played a crucial role in the formation of the Sikh Confederacy, which united various Sikh groups against Mughal rule and Afghan invasions. As the chief of the Ahluwalia misl (a Sikh military group), he was known for his strategic prowess and strong leadership. Ahluwalia was instrumental in establishing Sikh power in Punjab and contributed to the community's resilience during turbulent times, eventually helping to lay the groundwork for the later establishment of the Sikh Empire under Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
