Japanese Unit 731
Unit 731 was a secret biological warfare research facility operated by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. Based in Manchuria, it conducted inhumane experiments on prisoners, including exposing them to deadly pathogens, vivisection without anesthesia, and testing biological weapons. The unit aimed to develop biological and chemical weapons but caused immense suffering and death among thousands of victims. After the war, details about Unit 731 remained largely hidden, though some information emerged during the Tokyo War Crimes Trials. Its activities are considered among the most brutal examples of wartime human experimentation.
