Japan Defense Agency
The Japan Defense Agency was the government body responsible for overseeing Japan’s military forces and national security from 1954 until 2007. It managed Japan's Self-Defense Forces, including the army, navy, and air force. In 2007, it was reorganized into the Ministry of Defense to better coordinate and strengthen Japan’s defense policy and capabilities. Japan’s constitution limits its military to self-defense, so the agency focused on protecting the country from external threats while maintaining a non-aggressive stance. The agency played a key role in ensuring Japan’s security within its constitutional and international framework.
