Janeway hypothesis

The Janeway hypothesis suggests that certain immune cells, called dendritic cells, act as sentinels that detect pathogens (like bacteria and viruses) at their entry points to the body. When they find invaders, these cells activate other immune cells, especially T cells, to mount a targeted response. Essentially, dendritic cells serve as a bridge between recognizing an infection and triggering a coordinated immune attack, helping the body respond efficiently to infections and prevent disease progression.
