Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370)

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution granted Jammu and Kashmir a special status, allowing it to have its own constitution, laws, and autonomy in internal matters. This meant the region could make its own rules for things like education and property, separate from other Indian states. In August 2019, the Indian government revoked this special status, integrating Jammu and Kashmir fully into India and applying all central laws. The move was significant politically and legally, aiming to unify the region but also raising concerns about regional autonomy and historical agreements.
