
James V (King of Scotland)
James V was the King of Scotland from 1513 to 1542, known for his efforts to strengthen royal authority during a turbulent period. He was the son of King James IV and became king as a young child after his father's death. His reign included efforts to centralize power, reduce the influence of noble factions, and promote culture and education. Despite political challenges, James V maintained the independence of Scotland and sought to modernize the monarchy. He is also known for being the father of Mary, Queen of Scots. He died at age 31, leaving a legacy of attempts to stabilise and develop the Scottish kingdom.
