James McCulloch

James McCulloch was a 19th-century American banker and politician. He is best known for his role in the U.S. Supreme Court case McCulloch v. Maryland (1819), which established that federal laws have authority over state laws. The case involved the federal government’s ability to create a national bank, and the decision reinforced the principle that the Constitution grants implied powers to Congress.
