Jaeger Movement
The Jaeger Movement was a volunteer effort by South African ex-servicemen and civilians during the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902). They sought to support the Boer side by organizing guerrilla tactics against British forces. Named after their leader, Christiaan de Wet’s Jaeger units, they focused on hit-and-run attacks, sabotage, and gathering intelligence to weaken the British army. Their efforts aimed to prolong the conflict and protect Boer independence, demonstrating determined resistance despite facing significant odds from the better-equipped British military.
