Jadav Payeng
Jadav Payeng is an Indian environmentalist known for planting and nurturing a vast forest over several decades on the Brahmaputra River island in Assam. Starting in the 1970s, he transformed a barren sandbar into a thriving forest, now home to diverse wildlife, including elephants, tigers, and deer. His efforts have significantly improved local ecology, helped prevent erosion, and promoted biodiversity. Often called the "Forest Man of India," Payeng’s work demonstrates the profound impact one individual's dedication can have on restoring nature and combating environmental degradation.
