Jacques de Moivre
Jacques de Moivre was an 18th-century French mathematician known for his work in probability theory and for developing the foundation of what we now call the normal distribution. He is famous for De Moivre's Theorem, which links complex numbers and trigonometry, stating that a complex number can be expressed in terms of its polar coordinates. Additionally, his work laid the groundwork for later statistical methods and combinatorial analysis. De Moivre's contributions have had a lasting impact on mathematics, particularly in areas involving chance and patterns.
