Jacobite Uprisings

The Jacobite Uprisings were a series of rebellions in Britain, mainly between 1689 and 1746, aiming to restore the Catholic King James II and his descendants to the throne after they were deposed by Protestants. Supporters, called Jacobites, believed in the divine right of James and sought to return to a monarchy that favored Catholicism. These uprisings included notable events like the Battle of Culloden in 1746, which ended in defeat for the Jacobites and ultimately solidified the Protestant Hanoverian dynasty’s rule over Britain.
