Jabez Stone is a fictional character from the short story "The Devil and Daniel Webster" by Stephen Vincent Benét. He is a humble New Hampshire farmer who, feeling desperate for success, makes a deal with the devil (referred to as "Old Scratch") for seven years of prosperity. When the time ends and he tries to break free, the devil claims his soul.
