Izanami (Deity)

Izanami is a deity from Japanese mythology, part of the creation myth involving the Japanese islands. She is one of the primordial gods, alongside her partner Izanagi. Together, they are credited with creating the islands of Japan and various kami (gods). After giving birth to several deities, Izanami died during childbirth and descended to Yomi, the land of the dead. Her story reflects themes of life, death, and the cycle of creation and loss, and she is often associated with the duality of fertility and mortality in Shinto beliefs.
