Ivar's Rebellion
Ivar's Rebellion, also known as Ivar the Boneless' revolt, was a series of uprisings in 10th-century Ireland led by Ivar, a legendary Viking leader. After the death of the Viking ruler Olaf Geirstadsson, Ivar sought to expand his influence and challenge established powers. The rebellion involved Viking factions fighting against local Irish rulers and other Vikings loyal to different leaders. It shaped Viking interactions with Ireland, leading to shifts in control and the spread of Norse influence in the region. While details are limited and partly legendary, Ivar's Rebellion exemplifies the era’s complex Viking-Irish conflicts.
