Ivanpah Solar Power Facility

The Ivanpah Solar Power Facility, located in California's Mojave Desert, is one of the world's largest solar thermal power plants. It uses hundreds of mirrors called heliostats to reflect sunlight onto centralized boilers atop towers, creating intense heat that generates steam. This steam drives turbines to produce electricity, providing power to approximately 140,000 homes. The plant covers about 3,500 acres and harnesses the sun’s energy directly, converting it into renewable electricity without emitting greenhouse gases. It demonstrates advanced solar technology by efficiently capturing and transforming solar heat into clean, sustainable energy.
