IV (Immigrant Visa)

An Immigrant Visa (IV) is an official document that allows a foreign national to legally enter and stay permanently in the United States. It is typically granted to individuals who have a family relationship, employment offer, or other qualifying reasons for immigration. Once approved and issued, the visa allows the person to travel to a U.S. port of entry, where Customs and Border Protection may admit them as a lawful permanent resident. Essentially, an IV is the travel authorization document needed to start a life in the U.S. as a permanent resident.
