ITER facilities

ITER is an international research project building a large experimental fusion reactor located in France, designed to simulate the energy-producing process of the sun. Its goal is to develop a safe, sustainable, and nearly limitless source of clean energy by fusing hydrogen isotopes under extreme temperatures and pressures. The facility includes massive doughnut-shaped vacuum chambers (toroids), powerful magnets to contain the super-hot plasma, and advanced systems to control and measure the reactions. ITER's success could pave the way for future fusion power plants that generate electricity without greenhouse gases or long-lived radioactive waste.
