Italo-Ethiopian War
The Italo-Ethiopian War (1935-1936) was a conflict where Italy, under Mussolini, invaded Ethiopia (then Abyssinia), aiming to expand its empire. Ethiopia, led by Emperor Haile Selassie, fought to defend its independence. Despite Ethiopia's efforts, Italy used modern weapons, including bombs and chemical agents, to overpower Ethiopian forces. The invasion was condemned internationally but succeeded in Italy annexing Ethiopia. The war highlighted the weaknesses of the League of Nations' collective security efforts and contributed to the escalation of tensions leading to World War II.
