Italian Operaismo
Italian Operaismo, or "Workerism," is a Marxist-inspired political theory from Italy in the 1960s emphasizing the central role of the working class in social change. It critiques traditional Marxism for overlooking the evolving political and social power of workers’ daily activities and struggles. Operaismo focuses on studying how workers' practices, activism, and conflicts can challenge and transform capitalist systems from within. It highlights the importance of understanding workers’ experiences, collective action, and their ability to reshape economic and social structures through direct engagement, rather than solely relying on political institutions or elites.
