Italian Irredentism
Italian irredentism was a national movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries aimed at unifying all territories with Italian populations into the Kingdom of Italy. It sought to reclaim regions like Trentino, South Tyrol, Istria, and Dalmatia, which were under Austro-Hungarian or other foreign control, based on cultural, linguistic, and historical ties. The movement was driven by a sense of national identity and the desire to create a more ethnically and territorially coherent Italy. It played a significant role in Italy's political and military actions during the period, especially leading up to and during World War I.
