Ismaili history
Ismaili history traces back to early Islam, emphasizing a lineage of spiritual leaders called Imams who interpret the faith. The Ismailis split from other Muslims over succession disputes after the death of the sixth Imam, leading to their distinct identity. Historically, they have been known for scientific, philosophical, and cultural contributions, especially during the Middle Ages under pivotal figures like the Fatimid Caliphate. Today, Ismailis form a global community guided by the Aga Khan, focusing on social development, education, and spiritual leadership while maintaining their rich heritage rooted in the early Islamic tradition.
