Isle of Wight Railway

The Isle of Wight Railway was a British railway company operating trains on the Isle of Wight, an island off southern England. It connected key towns and facilitated passenger travel and freight movement from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. The railway was known for its distinctive steam locomotives and scenic routes through the island’s landscapes. Eventually, it became part of the Southern Railway network in 1923, integrating local services into a larger system. Today, remnants of the railway, including preserved lines and stations, serve as historical attractions and contribute to tourism on the island.
