Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khorasan
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khorasan (ISIS-K) is a militant extremist group that aims to establish a strict Islamic state in the region historically known as Khorasan, covering parts of Afghanistan and neighboring countries. Originating from Afghanistan around 2015, it split from the larger ISIS organization. ISIS-K functions as a terrorist organization, carrying out attacks to spread fear and enforce their interpretation of Islamic law. They oppose government authorities, Western influence, and other religious groups, often targeting civilians, security forces, and infrastructure to destabilize regions and advance their ideological goals.
