Islamic separatism
Islamic separatism refers to a movement where certain groups seek to establish or promote an independent political or territorial identity based on Islamic principles or heritage. These movements often arise from cultural, political, or social grievances, aiming for self-determination or greater autonomy within or outside existing states. They can involve calls for new borders, governance modes aligned with Islamic law, or protection of Muslim interests. Not all Islamic groups support separatism, and motivations vary—from religious beliefs to responses to marginalization or oppression. Such movements can influence regional stability and international relations depending on their scale and objectives.
